Well hello there...

Howdy!

I know its been a while between blogs. Having to balance my life around my husband's hectic job, kids school and activities, studies, altering garments for the new range, sprucing up bits of furniture as well having time to breathe is certainly taking its toll on me. I'm always feeling as though I'm being pulled left right and centre! But I'm so grateful for the variety in my life, it's what makes my days so interesting!

Whatever spare time I have is spent reading design magazines and blogs for inspiration and ideas for my assignments and for sprucing up these garments which I must say are coming along nicely. I can't wait to finally share them with you!

With everything going on, I could so easily spend a whole week indoors in the zone moving from task to task. I'm sure doing this would drive most people insane, so for the last two days I've forced myself to out of the house, getting accessories for the camera, lace trim and bits of fabric to add onto garments, as well as more design mags and books to devour. I also need a few lamps for the house to replace broken ones so I popped into my local antique store as well as a few op shops around the area to try and source some. I'm after a couple of ornate brass, wrought iron or copper table lamps for my living room and bedroom. I've been peeping through one of my favourite blogs, Old Brand New and totally love his bedside lamps in his blog, Thrifty Dilema and especially love that one of them is without a shade...genius! All you need is a low voltage bulb and Voila! It's the only time going topless in public gets a thumbs up! Here's a little sneak peek of what I'm talking about.... so loving his bed spread too!

Ok....so after all that I ended up getting everything but the lamps partly to do with the fact that there wasn't really anything that tickled my fancy, but mostly to do with the fact that I'm such an impulsive bugger :P. But I did walk out with a beautiful vintage lamp shade (hehe) and some other bits and bobs. So here are some pics of todays not so fruitful thrifty musings.

One of my local antique/clearance stores. This sign is on the door every single time I visit. I love this man's life!

Cool huh!

So close to grabbing this bargain to spruce up. It was designed and made by a local liverpool craftsman. I mean, how often do you come across a corner chair??

As wee as it is, I could spend hours in this place.

Meet Rennie, never shy of a photo and the nice man who owns this place.

The beautiful shade I ended up thrifting from Oxfam.

 It's all about the detail...

Had to also take Burt home. It reminds me of my dad. "Do you know the way to San Jose??"

Bought simply because it made me laugh. "Ideal for Use at Home....or on Safari". What the?? Would make a cute holder for my drawing tools.

  3. Oh my, what a nice surprise to see my bedroom on your sweet blog. I loved the "It's the only time going topless in public gets a thumbs up!" comment. Made me chuckle. Thanks for lovely comments.

And that lampshade is spectacular. I can't wait to see how you're gonna work it in your home. I love seeing thrifty adventures from other parts of the world.
